Really?!?!
I agree that X-Men may be over used over done and over exposed, but I have to give credit to Singer and crew that the movies were well done.

i remember going and seeing the first opening day all excited... damn i was still in elementary school... scary. anyhow the whole time i kept thinking that it was kinda over the top. i know its a comic book movie but it seemed really gaudy and IMO cheesy. generally the second didnt doo too much better in my book but the third will be directed by that guy who did Rush Hour so I'm not exactly expecting to get impressed all that much this time around. plus they added like a bijillion new characters so the each will probably play screen time tug o war. (my guess is that wolverine will win... again. by this point they should just call it wolverine and freinds)

LOL! Um, I remember seeing the first Superman movie... at the Drive-In no less. Ha! Same here! The real sad thing is that the drive in is about 5 miles from where I sit right now. I haven't moved very far... OK, I'm getting into this game a little late, so I have to play catch-up. IMO, the best is Superman 1. I can still watch it and hold almost the same level of enthusiasm as I did when I was a wee lad. Superman 2 was good until the end scene in the Fortress when the Kryptonians developed new abilities (ray-beams from the fingers? Superman's duplicating ability... well, that one could be a product of the Fortress, but finger beams?!?!?!?) X-Men 1 was good, X2 was better. Spiderman was good, Spiderman 2 was better and included one of the best super-hero moments in film (Pete stopping the train gives me goose-bumps). The Batman movies: 1 was great, 'Returns' (IMO) was better (loved the Selina/Bruce romance), 'Forever' was ick, '& Robin' was a steaming pile 'o' crap & 'Begins' was amazing, though the fight scenes were to 'in your face'. Christian Bale learned how to do all these martial arts moves and they gave him a Bat-suit that he could actually perform in... then they film all the fight scenes on super-zoom. That was my only complaint there. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm: The only Batman movie to get it completely right. No complaints. Hulk - crap Daredevil - Eh... Elektra - entertaining Hellboy - Damn good FF - I paid money to see this??? If I come up with any other memorable ones I'll post again.

true but it was also directed and starred the most talented people to ever work on a comic book movie. that was a cast and crew to kill for

sin city was damn good. No arguments on that one. And I also agree with you LL. best superhero moment on the big screen...Spidey stops the train. <shudder>.

I'm sorry guys... I know I am in a super minority here... I didn't care for Sin City at all... 'cept for the bare-breasted lady... that worked. Otherwise... I just didn't care for it.

-> ducks & covers... I never read it...
In my defense though... I'm not a fan of Frank Miller at all... DKR was good... Year One was fantastic... otherwise, never read anything else by him that I enjoyed, even remotely. I just never got it. It's dark... it's brooding... it's gritty... it's realistic... Sorry, if I wanted that I'd hang out in Compton. I'd rather read about magic rings & flying super-folk.
Does this get me banned from any further comic book discussions?

You're really missing history in the making with the All Star Batman & Robin

LOL! When it comes to that book, I take mine with a shot of Jack Daniels. Ugh! Although wouldn't people's jaws drop if that book was ever adapted to the silver screen.

You're really missing history in the making with the All Star Batman & Robin It was when Bats Bitch-slapped Robin & screamed at him that "I am the Goddamn Batman!!!" right before running down a bunch of cops when I finally figured out that Frank Miller had one F---ed up childhood. That is no Batman I'm familiar with! All-Star Superman, on the other hand... That is one cool book!

i read that that is the response miller prefers in his audience, he likes then to get mad at him for things he says and does. i guess its working?
i like B+R from what ive read, its refreshing to see something so untraditional like that presented that way

I don't understand why a writer's main goal would be to make his readers angry. I can't seem to wrap my mind around that one.
Oh, and I am reading the new Spidey story, LL. What do you think of it so far?

that is his way! he wants a reaction! i would rather be angry when reading something then contempt and bored. he tries to fuel it with conflict. i know what it is, you guys cant dig it cuz you aint hip to the jive. man... i aint tryin to hear no anti miller talk from yous turkeys.

Modern artists have a manifesto saying that content is dead, the only thing that matters is response. Maybe Frank Miller is taking that to heart?

Well I'm not sure I totally agree with that logic, but ok. I mean the two best books on the market, IMO, is Birds of Prey and JSA and I would have to say that there is a wonderful feeling of fulfillment and contentment when I am done with them. That's the reason they're my favorites.

ummmmm ok. but its nic cage with dyed hair playing ghost rider, you DO realize that right? i mean... i know some of the movie will have a flaming skull but... its nick cage. as for hulk i swore he was gonna pick up a single flower and shed a tear at some point in the movie. you know while he wasn't leaping around like a giant green gorilla and falling down in sand dunes. but that stan lee thought it was faaantastic, so it musta been good.
