i am going to go ahead and say the rocketeer. the movie (even though it was disney... who would have thought the house of mouse could pull that off) really did an excellent job of capturing dave steven's vision. all that, and it was a great movie to boot, full of action, suspense, and humor.

I gotta say, Superman 2 was fantastic (the best film of the series), Spider-man 2 out did Spider-man in every way possible, Batman Begins made me scream with joy about how fantastic it was. I know some people haven't been so affected by it, but I was as giddy as a school girl seeing this. X-Men 2 also out did X-Men 1 in story and character development, but I'm gonna' choose NICK FURY, AGENT OF SHIELD as my favourite. Hasslehoff! Wooo!

Catwoman. :-D
No, seriously, not. I'm kidding. But, hmm....I want to say Batman Begins, personally. I mean, to me, that movie was just rolling waves of the Big O.

Just kidding!!
Well I've always been a huge Spiderman fan and Spiderman 2 just tickled me into tears, but the very end of X-MEN 2 was probably the best moment in a super-hero movie that I have ever seen. But hands down, nothing has ever compared and it raised the bar, Batman Begins. IMHO

Charlie, I had just sent a message in the pope thread talking about how wonderful this place is when it comes to everyone respecting everyone's opinion and that sort of thing so I was basically harrassing your last statement. Just my weird sense of humor rearing its ugly head again.

Yeah I have to admit, Sin City was the best comic book to movie translation, but they were as faithful to the source as possible. But when it comes to an actual superhero to screen, I really liked Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Begins.

Batman Begins is so good just thinking about it makes me want to cry. No don't let me think about it or I'll have to go watch the DVD.

I have to put my two cents in for Superman 2 or Spiderman 2 (but Tim Burton's Batman is a close second).

That's the first animated Batman movie that went straight to video? I haven't seen any of the recent animated movies.

"who doesnt love them some bat shark repellent?"
My own personal favourite is the selfless dolphin that hurls itself in front of the Penguin's torpedo.
Truly, if it weren't for Adam West and Burt Ward, I would never have gotten into comics.

My farthest memory back is sitting in front of the teli watching those half hour shows and thinking how cool it would be to do that. Heh, I used to pin a blanket around my neck after the shows and run around pretending to be Batman...then I turned twelve. ;D

Yep, I used to be a HUGE fan of the Batman TV show. They would rerun it in the afternoons after school and I distinctly remember when they replaced it with some other show and being so mad that I demanded that my mother take me to the television station!
There was plenty of superhero-ness on TV in the 70s though, but I would have to say that Super Friends and Batman were my big influences.

Turn twelve I mean. <mutters> Not that I let that stop me. I'm proud of you for standing up and admitting something that was so personal. I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who...um...turned twelve. Now when I was thirteen I put down the cape and grabbed the metal trash can lid. Anyone want to take a guess on who that was... lol

For my favorite comic movies...
Batman Begins Hellboy Spider-man 2
All great stuff. I thought the Batman movie was excellent but it was a VERY straight forward adaptation. I did miss some of the fun elements and more abstracted visuals of the Burton movies. Spider-man was tremendous but what the heck was up with "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" scene? Ha, Sam Raimi's crazy. Anyone seen the pic of Sandman yet from the next installment? Looks perfect and I can't wait. Hellboy just worked for me, but I like all those wacky Lovecraft monsters anyway.
Others that I liked that weren't so much straight superhero or adaptations would be... Both Crumb and Ghost World American Splendor The Incredibles

Ha, I've shield-tossed a trashcan lid or two in my time. LOL. Ok, I know it is way off subject but here's a couple more. Has anyone (in their day) picked up a hammer to be Thor? worn heavy snow gloves as Iron Man's gauntlets? Ripped your shirt off and cut your pants up to be the Hulk? Jumped off the roof of your house to be Superman? Put on fishnet stockings and pretended....err... well never mind. <goes back to corner and turns light off again>

Others that I liked that weren't so much straight superhero or adaptations would be... Crumb American Splendor Yeah those aren't exactly comic book translations, more documentaries. There both really good. If I had to choose the best comic book documentary, I'd probably choose Comic Book Confidential.

Was it recent or has it been out a while? Might see if my library can get it in. Disclaimer: Starlord never has, nor would he ever actually wear fishnet stockings. It was totally meant to get a chuckle out of someone. ;D

I used to to take this yellow shirt my dad had and just close up the top button and run around along with my green underoos, pretending to be Robin. That used to be fun.
Lol. Fishnets. Nice, Starlord.

I don't think I've ever heard of that, doc. Was it recent or has it been out a while? Might see if my library can get it in. It was made in the mid-80s, I think. It features and interviews a lot of legendary comic makers. It mostly focuses on the introduction of the Comic Code and how messed up it was. There are other neat little bits, like Dan O'Neill explaining how Disney sued him over a Mickey Mouse satire he made (which involves Mickey and Mini getting it on!). Some of the people featured include: Robert Crumb Will Eisner William M. Gaines Jack Kirby Harvey Kurtzman Stan Lee Frank Miller And others...
