He's sexist/hateful towards Steph Brown...you can't deny that. *grasps at straws*

I don't know. I don't think so. He's trying to push Wonder Woman to a higher status in the DCU than before, and yes, it was quite a "false start" with the delays, but his view on the TRINITY is trying to make the icons icons again. And I know that some people don't think that Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman are the be all and end all of the DCU but honestly... They are

I think what Joe Q has just done to Spider-Man will go down in history as one of the worse moments ever. What a horrible way to start off 2008.

Can't say I agree. OMD wasn't great... or even GOOD... but I've read much, much, much worse- and more importantly, everything I've seen for Brand New Day looks awesome. For me, the worst moment of this year is inevitably going to be the death of Darkseid. You just KNOW it's coming up.

No, no, OMD is a travesty and WE WILL TALK OF IT NO LONGER. Joe Q may very well be "doing everything he does out of love and respect out of the character" but his idea of love and respect is severely twisted. And I hate it and won't be buying Amazing Spider-Man like I intended to this year. Bastards! BASTARDSSS!

See I find it hard to lend credence as "WORST STORY EVER!" when by and large, everyone I've seen, even those who despise it, concede that the art was generally good and the writing itself was actually great, it was just WHAT was written that they hated. So for me, for a story to be the "worst ever!!!" it must actually feature bad writing AND art, or at least one of them. Clearly I'm in the minority.

The story was corrupted by Joe Q and his ego. Yes, JMS agreed to tell the story, but when editorial makes you change something that should be, by and large, your envisaging of a story, then it's not good at all.

I'm not saying it was good. I'm just saying not only have I read worse stories, not only have I read worse stories in 2007, but I'd read worse stories in the same MONTH. This is being blown way out of proportion.

I don't agree Kev! This was a travesty. But I see where you're coming from

I'm sure everbody who knows me knows that I could post a whole bunch of contenders for the title of Worst Story Ever to this thread. But I won't, because why? Even if we agreed on who the absolute worst should be (which of course ain't gonna happen), there's always something Even Worse coming down the pike. Always, always, always. It's like a negative feedback spiral, with no bottom.

Maximum Clonage was the straw that broke my back. After that story I stop reading Spidey for a long time.
That was an example of trying to keep up with DC Comics and editorial interference.
I did not read One More Day, but reading how it ended, I won't be getting the collected edition. I guess I'll be looking forward to Scret Invasion and Avengers Initiative.

The moment Gail Simone left Oracle, Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk to twist in the unforgiving wind of any other writer's hand.
Enough said.

Yeah J'onn's death. But my personal worst comic moment doesn't have to do some much as what was IN the comic. It was the hole Countdown burnt in my pocket! I'm still ticked!

WASTE OF MONEY.. and time reading that rubbish. Yep and the funny part is that Final Crisis and Countdown contradict eachother! One word to explain that...Didio lol.

Plus he wants to kill Nightwing and just the idea upsets me. It's like he wants to kill everyone in the whole DC Universe before he's through with being head of DC.

Manhunter's death was effective in Final Crisis and touching in Requiem so I am cool with it.

I liked J'onn and hated the one-panel death, but Requiem certainly did lessen the blow. Worst ever?
...There's a Spider-Man story out there called "The Final Chapter"- not the good Lee/Ditko one, I mean one from the late 90s. It features the Green Goblin in a magic ritual, Spider-Man giving up AGAIN, and the "giant, climatic, huge" battle between the Goblin and Spidey that had been building for years..... being resolved off-panel.
Also? Surgically altered Aunt May actress.
Yeah, it's the worst story I've ever read.

O yeah, The Gathering of the Five!
I actually enjoyed the resolution to that story, with the Daily Bugle building about to fall, but I get you man, it was weak not showing the final battle.

I hate that they killed off J'onn, but it seemed like DC had no idea how to make the characters prifitable, so I guess he was marked for death...
Thought Requiem was one of the best issues of the year so far; it really brought out the tragic nobility of this heroic character. Loved the last scene with Batman... Got a little catch in my throat, there.

DC Comics presents Superman and Aquaman. I wrote a letter asking Julie Schwartz if he thought printing bad comics would make his hair grow.

Exactly, and that's what a death should do, Dave! It should make you feel something! Hey, thanks for that life lesson, Charlie! Well, I do try! But what I meant is deaths should mean something. Did Black Adam sticking his hand through the chest of Terra (or whatever he did?) mean something? No. Pure shock value, nothing redeeming about it. But this built on something that could have just been plain awful standing alone.
