I'm going to go with the Nintendo Wii. The controller looks cool, and the games scheduled for the lauch all seem to be great choices. Another great feature of course will be the ability to download old NES and SNES games. I can't wait for it. Don't forget N64, Genisis , and Turbografx-16! |

Here's why I like the Wii, no ranting or preaching this time.
XBox is o.k. I own an XBox. It's a good system. But the 360 only built up on XBox Live. That's not going to get them anywhere. The PlaySstation lost its game-making magic with the release of the PSP. I'm not saying that it had bad games, I'm simply saying that the DS had bettter games. I'd rather Have Nintendogs than the 5 best PSP games. That is how I feel.

Pikmin is great. Create an army of plants, then walk around, and die in frustration because a giant fungus controls your army, and then giant things, and fire, and water, and dumb Pikmins. Damn I loved that game!
But, I prefer the PS. Because, well, it's the PS3.

It does have some good games, but it really isn't that much of a system. The original Xbox presented some really great gaming ideas, and made online play in consoles standered. But the 360 is only really an Xbox with a better graphics card. Same old controller, same old games. When Microsoft released it, and everyone was drooling over the graphics, I just stopped and said, "That's it?!?!?" Not much of an improvement. Though I'm really a Nintendo-only fan, I was giving some respect to PS3, but it lost a lot of it when I found out about the rediculous price tag ($600 dollars for a video game console $600!!) and the fact that they outright COPIED Nintendo's new controller. |

I was really expecting for Sony to come out with a blow-my-mind-away controller, but all they did was take the same controller they've used for the past 3 systems and throw a Wii-ripoff into it. And this isn't the first time Sony's directly taken for their controller from Nintendo: 1. The D-pad (cross) was invented for the NES. 2. The control stick was invented for the N64. 3. Shoulder buttons first appeared on the SNES. 4. Rumble first hit consoles on the N64. 5. And now, motion sensing. That's a lot of stuff. |

You couldn't give me a free Nintendo to replace what games I play on my Xbox and Playstation! Who has 8 days, GTA, Madden, EA sports etc? Funny how I played Atari when I was growing up, not Nintendo. Atari just about killed the market with ET, Starwars, the atari version of Pac-man, etc. Nintendo came out with the Famicon and saved it. Therefore we wouldn't have all of these games today it it weren't for Nintendo. EDIT: By the way Gamecube gets all of the EA Sports games too. And I never want to see the kiddie argument again for the rest of my life... -_- |

Check out the first place EVERYONE is running... And to answer your question John people like it because it's new and different. Nintendo didn't just improve the graphics and call it a day, they pulled all the stops making something innovative and interesting. I haven't heard anyone that's played the Wii say that they didn't like it. Even when they just played it with the short mini-games back in September. Many of the Sony and Microsoft fans who wouldn't stop bashing the Wii and Nintendo last year have said that they will get a Wii. ;D EDIT: Tons of people have played it there was at least a 6-7 hour line to get into the Wii's booth. I watched a video of a guy who walked next to the people waiting in line, from the very end of the line to the very beginning and it took him around 15 minutes. There you boys go running off the new blood again with your hijinks! Ramon obviously owns stock in Sony and Charlie must be addicted to Zelda slash fic. ;D Um. I think it's a good thing that gaming has grown to the point of being able to support so many platforms and that they can begin to diversify like this. Nintendo has presented an all-ages image and focused on innovation and solid gameplay and it looks like its paying off for them. Sony and Microsoft are both providing different specialties in their systems to try to find the next step in multimedia and that's cool too. I'd personally love to try any of them out at this point but it will be awhile before I can spring the cash for one of them. Since each is growing their own markets, branded characters, and licenses it's getting hard to compare on which is more effective. But, it will really be interesting to see which gambles in the new systems really pay off down the road. |
