Pretty simple question. What is your favorite comic (or comics) ever?
Mine is pretty easy: the first Terminal City series by Dean Motter and Michael Lark. Holy crap was that a breath of fresh air. Still holds up pretty good over the years as well.

Peter David's entire take on Supergirl. Followed VERY closely by: a) Birds of Prey (Gail Simone's run, though some of Dixon's run rocked as well) b) New X-Men (Morrison's entire run) c) Zatanna: Everyday Magic - that book was gold! d) Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run.

Still holds up pretty good over the years as well. TERMINAL CITY was a great book. I read the trade a year or so back and thought it was excellently done. The overall style was very well portrayed, from the characters to the interiors, to the architecture. Amazing book.

If you liked the first series, be sure to pick up Terminal City: Aerial Graffitti mini-series as well. It is an incredible follow-up to the trade paperback and is available on most on-line comic shops.
If you are interested in more of Dean Motter's work, Electropolis by Image Comics was pretty decent. A little derivitive of Terminal City, but a fun read regardless.

Wow. That is always a great question whenever asked. But its always so hard to pick just one, so I will pick 5 out of my top 25. They don't always seem to be in the same order but off the top of my head today would be:
Sandman Doom Patrol (Morrison run) Shade the Changing Man Strangers in Paradise Starman Suicide Squad
See, even my top five isn't big enough off the top of my sharp head!

I would say the entire Moore/Gaiman run of Miracleman. If you have the money, and can find them, they are truly worth the investment. I only have a few issues left to complete my collection, and all the time and money have been worth it. A fantastically written book with exceptional artwork that predates both The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen.

Irv Novick provided us with clean, strong and beautiful art on The Flash, and the story telling was, in my opinion at its peak when the Rogue Gallery flourished and it was never enough to read these old books over and over again.

And that's exactly how I feel with the Wolfman/Perez era of the New Teen Titans. The art was consistantly beautiful and the story's were clear, prescise and they always knew what plot threads to leave dangling for another day. And nine out of ten times they actually came back and picked them up again later. There was also a lot of teenage angst and it was a time when the junior partners were all at the age where they were questioning their roles as the side kicks. Or maybe it was just that my age and theirs was about the same at that time so I really got the book. Wichever, I would have to say that Titans really does top my list as all time favorite read.

The first 10 issues of Peter David's Supergirl. Fallen Angel could have been better, but I lost interest in the middle.
Best moment though is during Hunter/Prey. Doomsday is about to give Superman a killing "throw away", and Superman whispers "....Lois...". Classic.

Secret Identity I picked up at a Barnes & Noble one morning and started reading while my wife & mom-in-law were talking. It had me hooked in the first 4 pages... totally new, unique take on Superboy Prime through adulthood & old age. It is a real touching story & I highly recommend it to everyone that just wants to read a great Superman book, free of convoluted history.
Loeb & Sale are a great team... Unfortunately I find Loeb (without Sale) to be insufferable as both a writer & a person. He's become increasingly self-important & rude over the years, where Sale is one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Jeph Loeb has a great grasp of the characters he writes, and I care not for the person, but the stories he produces... I think if he was a crap writer and a crap person then he shouldn't be in comics... Like John Byrne. He had his day, used it, abused it, and sticks around still. I like his style but it just gets on my nerves now...

my first exposure to the writer was in teen wolf (starring Mike J Fox) and teen wolf too (starring Jay Bateman, yeah i am down enough to call them by those names... or too lazy to type them... yet i type the explanation...) so since then i dont care if the man defecated on young children while jabbing old ladies with stolen pencils, hes okay by me!
