Does this mean we can expect a whole slew of "Classified" books for a lot of the books that DC has? (Though, frankly, the thoughts of a Titans: Classified and especially a BoP: Classified [though that one is even less likely to happen] would tickle me to death. A Batgirl: Classified, maybe, where they can tell untold stories of Babs? That way, Batgirl-Babs fan have Babs as BG, Cassie fans have Cassie, and Oracle fans have Oracle. )

I think the new titles are actually called Batman and Superman Confidential (for what it's worth)...

Well now I've also read several rumors that they are bringing back Batwoman (all of this just being rumors) and if that's true, I was wondering if they were going to put Babs in that suit (if she regains the use of her legs). Personally I want her as Oracle but that's just me. Of course if they bring back Earth 2, perhaps that is the Batwoman they are bringing back as well. I'm starting to get a headache. LOL

I actually think that Batwoman might either be a) Sasha Bordeaux b) Bette Kane (very slim chances there, I know) or c) Cassandra Cain.
I really do hope it isn't Barbara, because I love her as Oracle to death and back...that and I really don't want to see BoP greatly affected by any changes in status quo.

I hope Babs remains Oracle. Her story is actually quite inspiring, not letting her disability stop her from fighting crime. I thought was a very powerful and positive message. If her ability to walk is permanent, and she becomes BatWoman, it almost negates the positive message she had as Oracle. (In my opinion anyway.)

It also takes Babs back about, what, seventeen, eighteen years at the most? Besides, when she was shot, she had already given up being Batgirl, something which a lot of people seem to forget. I don't know...Oracle's just too good of a character to want to get rid of. I honestly think that doing what I said at the top of this page would be the better way to go. But then again....
POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING
in the Feb solicits for Batgirl, it says that it's the end of Batgirl....that could be just DC exagerrating as they tend to do, (because, for Wondy, it said that it was the final issue a few times to point out that fact) or Cass is really no longer going to be Batgirl or any sort of hero any longer, or...she is Batwoman.

LMAO, you're evil. I was so trying not to take that into consideration? And then I saw the cover for the issue. Bloody hell. Or...yes...she will die. ((modified for really bad spelling))

Nah, she's not going to die. They wouldn't put her tomb stone right there on the cover if they were actually going to kill her. Maybe she does become the new Batwoman...but then who will be Batgirl? Not Babs, not Babs...

"in the vein of JSA and JLA: Classified "
What does that mean exactly? I don't read either of these. Is there an extra theme to the book which makes them, "classified" (like the out of continuity thing that makes LOTDK "legends," or the relationship theme of Gotham Knights)? Or is it the case they are just second books for those teams and the publisher thought "Classified" was a cool title.

Yes, the classified's (if I understand it correctly) have the ability to step outside of the continuity or stay in it. The last JLA arc was seperate from what is going on now, however the last JSA Classified starring Power Girl was tied to recent happenings. so I guess it could be either.

The "classified" series also rotates creative teams, so each arc is almost a limited series under a common banner.

It also gives some characters a chance to shine, which wouldn't be the case otherwise. Like, you could have a four issue arc with just a few of the characters from the JSA, totally throwing them into the spotlight...

Exactly! For instance in an upcoming JSA Classified they are doing an arc with just Wildcat and Green Lantern. Next to GA and NW, Wildcat is also in my top five so WAY looking forward to those issue's.

Ahhhhh... So you mean its like... What the All-Star books were supposed to be!
Thanks for answering my question guys. I still haven't read any of the IC stuff yet (I'm slowly trawling my way through COIE first.) but from what I've heard I think I'm going to be really unhappy with the direction the company is going.
Winnick getting an editorial post!? Employing him as a writer was a big enough stunt!

I like Judd Winnick! Everyone treats him like a Rob Liefeld of writing (just beneath Chuck Austen) but he writes a good story! I think he should stick to one book though, because his writing gets strained when he writes two or three. There are common phrases and links in each issue which just shouldn't be there. But he must be doing SOMETHING right if they trust him to write parts of Countdown and their gritty series... (Batman, Outsiders and Green Arrow). He has a very human, down to earth look of the characters, which I think is fantastic after all those years of trenchcoat wearing, gun wielding vigilantes. Ok... Thats me done. Let the smiting begin...

I haven't read a lot of Winick's writing, but from what I've read, he's not bad. I mean, he's not one of my all-time favorites, but he's spun a few good, enjoyable tales.

My problem with Winnick isn't his ability, it's his choice of subject matter. The man spins an entertaining yarn... hooks me, ropes me in... and then... he gives me the Scarebeast, and resurrects Jason Todd! If he'd spend less time writing toward a shock ending and more time trying to create finales that deliver on the promise of his beginnings and middles, I'd have no complaint whatsoever.

I have enjoyed a lot to Winnicks story's on all his titles. Where he strays is when he tries too hard to inject things for shock value. Some could say bringing back Jason Todd was done for that reason which it may have been. I haven't minded that as much as I thought I would. I actually have liked where that has been going so far. But it seems at times he writes things to get a rise out of people. Whether it be with a social issue or something controversial. He hasn't been allowed to do that so much with Batman but it happens quite often in Green Arrow, Outsiders, and Green Lantern when he first started out. He is a good writer with a lot of wit when he's not trying to force things.

Actually HoM I exhaulted you for your stand up defense to Winnick! He actually is one of my favorites and for the reason already stated. He's always kept the characters grounded, and I like that. I also agree that he has done some really weird stuff and probably for no other reason then the shock value, but in my opinion there are a lot of writers out there that aren't as good as he is.
