SPOILERS!!!
Well, that did it! They have officially signed Dick Grayson's Death Certificate! We all know that NO member of the Bat-Family can be happy. He has proposed to Barbara... she said yes... notice the rock on her finger & he said (paraphrasing here) "Whelp, off I go to war, don't forget me when I'm dead!"
We all know what's been hinted at, and with the next few issues showing 'A' Nightwing holding Jason Todd's knife... Yep, dead.
Otherwise, this was one of the best issues Devin Grayson has done... granted it was her taking Dick back to his roots, before she screwed him up. But, IMO, it was the best issue in years.
Thoughts?

Finally got around to reading this last issue. I actually liked the ending. Enjoyed the entire issue, actually. Only took how many issue's of Grayson's run to enjoy one? Hmmm....all of them. Felt rushed, but it also felt like she was trying to finally make up for everything else.

Anyone got the latest issue? I did and I'd have to say I was really disapointed. Jason Todd is pretending to be Nightwing...killing people and stuff. Didn't he die? Keep him dead! Since they have a new art team they drew Dick differently...he has long hair to his shoulders now, he looks Native American (not that I have anything agaisnt Natives) and he looks like his fourty or fifty...*shivers*
SPOILERS!!!!
At the very start of the issue he is sleeping with a girl who isn't Babara...I guess the marraige is off. Also he got thrown off a building and Jason Todd saves him...just showing again that Nightwing is weak when really he isn't.

Yes, Dick is alive... he's just become a man-whore. I agree the hair has to go. He did look native american, which is strange seeing as how he's not one... I am, so I took no offense Cheshire. It was an entertaining book, better than most of Grayson's run. But it seemed uneven & disjunct. The bit about Jason Todd was no surprise, just look at the cover. Jason's been alive & kicking for almost a year now (as seen in Winick's Batman run) & I don't think anyone really thought he died again in the Batman annual.
I guess all will be revealed during the next 52 weeks! I love the character so I'm in it for the long haul!

i have got to say, in all my life i have never heard the word "native" as neither offensive nor as a term for a native american so i was a bit confused.
I thought he was a man whore when he did starfire so him with some other chick is not confusing. what IS confusing is that prior to OYL, Superman of E2 had said dick was a better man on this earth then the other. i wonder if that has anything to do with anything.

I'm a fan of the character, historically, but I haven't read a single issue of his own title (aside from our excellent DC2 version of it, by Ellen), so I think I can approach this OYL issue with some kind of objectivity, and all I can say is: Huh?
This is the man raised by Batman?
This is the leader of the Titans?
This is the Great White Hope of the DCU?
This is the man who Babs Gordon was going to marry?
You know, when I first heard of the big changes coming in OYL, I really thought that Dick would be Batman (he deserves it, and it's a natural progression--- though maybe I'm prejudiced by LITF), Bruce would be comissioner (E2, Brandon!), Tim would be Nightwing, and we'd get a new Robin--- I know that that sort of shake-up would have taken some guts, but the hype was big enough to expect it.
Instead we get a Nightwing who leads a covert strike force (in Outsiders) willing to kill foreign troops, and a vagabond barfly who picks up a one-night stand and would have been killed in an insignificant tussle with some newjack metavillains if Jason Todd hadn't saved him!
I'll give it a couple of issues, but I just hope that this new version doesn't make fans look back upon Devin Grayson's run as "the good old days"...!

Well I don't get my books until tomorrow, but between here and Newsarama, I'm already depressed. Next to GA, Nightwing...no Dick...was always my favorite DC character. He was the reason I started reading Batman all those years ago, and the reason I became such a huge fan of the Titans. I really thought Devin did a bad number on him and was really hoping that things would change. Now I'm just sad.  |

I know. This really hurts. Well... I'll just keep writing him the way I'd like him to be (basically, from what I've been told, the Marv Wolfman version--which I haven't read myself, but most of the best fanfics I've scanned were written by people who had) and hope that one day, the DCU does the same!

not having read the issue, i kind of STILL hope this all is some sort of disguise. is babs in the issue? maybe she died or something happened which would have changed his perspective on life. I really hoped things worked out for him because aside from Kyle, Dick was my boy you know? this whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, REAL bad. I dunno though, perhaps-
oh wait was the one night stand hot? maybe you guys are just haters, the whole lot of you.

Nope, At the start of the book he is sleeping with a redhead so you're like: 'Oh good they're still together" but then when you read on you find out that she has a job in fashion...Can't think of her name right now..lol
My bad lol. Sometimes I forget. I'm so used to saying Native because people asume you're talking about Native Americans when you live in North America.
