(I feel like I'm that teacher from The Breakfast Club who heard a ruckus, and comes into the library to chastise Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall and Molly Ringwald):
"Villalobos! Keep it clean, mister! You don't think I know who's the ringmaster of this little flea circus? You mess with the bull, you get the horns! Do I make myself clear? Now siddown and shut up! "

I probably would've been Ally Sheedy in High School. Not so much from the way I acted, but from the way other people REacted.
Back On-topic... I've gone onto a couple of threads started by dissatisfied readers and let them know about the alternative here.
Hopefully that'll get us another 149 new members in the next two days. (I placed my bet on March 21 to break 1000)

Nightwing was awful. Suddenly, Dick is a womanising rookie with no qualms about how anyone else cares or feels. This isn't Nightwing. This is Arsenal in Nightwing's body. First, Grayson makes him a whiny wimp. Now, Jones makes him Harper-lite. Why can't DC find a decent flippin' writer for one of their best characters?!?!?! I expected great things from this. I am now very angry. I stuck through Devin's run. I don't think I can stick through any more of this; watching one of my favourite characters being ruined by awful writers is not exactly the best thing to spend money on. If this book doesn't improve soon, then I'm dropping it.

Normally, reading a plot I dislike nudges my muse and gets the creative juices flowing. My muse has been weeping under my bed since Wednesday. I finally got her to come out and help me with NW #4... but if I mention Bruce Jones in her pres--aw, dang! She's gone again and I hear sobbing sounds coming from the bedroom!
I didn't mean... Muse! Muse, come back... it's ok...
errr... scuse me Gang. Gotta run...

Ellen, if I were you, I would take these revolting developments and use them as the impetus to show people how the character should be written when the writer is someone who knows and cares for the character (I don't want to trash Bruce Jones, except to say he is probably not the person for this particular job).

I finally did sit down this weekend and read this issue. After swallowing the bile that rose in my throat, I became very confused. It was really awful, and yet not quite as bad as Grayson, but I'm not sure how that can be.
And Ellen, after reading your take on Dick in both your mini series and the first two issue's of Nightwing, you are already way ahead of Jones and Grayson, by like a continent.

Well, my take comes mainly from fellow fanficcers. And their take comes from the Wolfman on TT days. So now you know where I'm coming from. (L-rd knows where Bruce Jones is going to...)

Enough from the writing, what about the ART? *shudder*

Compared to the writing the art was great! Standalone it was still decent. I've seen a LOT worse. Trevor McCarthy, anyone?

Well, Nightwing #118 is going back for a 2nd printing after being sold out.
Comments, reactions?

It means the hype worked really well. It will be interesting to see how much of that audience they'll be able to keep if people are even MORE dissatisfied with the new writer. After seeing the reactions online to Grayson, that's hard to even imagine.

I agree one hunded percent. I can't see them maintaning a reader base with what they're doing.
Barbarella, KSM? Sweet...and the Duran Duran referance makes it down right brilliant.
