This is a really fun thread, and probably a good place to start the DC2s raging opinions of this DC Mega Event. I love Grant Morrison

Me too. Anti-life equation on the internet? Human Flame? Libra? Mad Hatter being beaten with a toilet? Final Crisis: Requiem for... (The character is kinda obvious)? Everything is GENIUS! GENIUS I SAY!
I love Morrison. Also, he looks like Lex Luthor.

Even though Countdown is among the worst comics I've ever had the misfortune to read, I'm REALLY hyped for Final Crisis. As "Rock of Ages" and "Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle" have demonstrated, screw the Anti-Life Equation, the equation that matter is:
Grant Morrison + Awesome Artist + New Gods + Good ideas + DC Universe = Genius

This event looks fun. Grant Morrison looks like he's having a blast, JG is having a blast, everyone involved is having fun (from what I can tell) and this is just going to be fun for us too if we decide to pick it up. Some of us might not like what Grant's doing, but I have faith in him, and this will be the first ongoing book I pick up since Sinestro Corps. Plus, Requiem for the !!!SPOILER!!! Martian Manhunter? >>>

Based on the fact that I like the Martian Manhunter, odds are quite strong of him going the way of the New Gods, Captain America and EVery Flash Ever...

Oh. No. They. DIN'T.
I got goosebumbs at the last page of DC Universe Zero. Everyone go out and buy it immediately (but avoid the internet spoilers until you do).
I am now sold on Final Crisis.

I couldn't agree more. I had to re-read it twice to make sure i was really seeing what I was. And with those tie -ins as well. Nothing seems like it will be a waste, like a lot that went into IC

I've loved just about everything Johns has ever done; can't say the same for Morisson, but obviously if you put the two together, you're getting some very exciting stuff.
I, too, am hooked on this, already. If this turns out to even be half as fullfilling as The Sinestro Wars were, I think DC could be seeing a new age of greatness.
Anyone else think that Didio steps down, Johns would be a perfect replacement. This guy really gets these heroes and villians.

I think Didio is doing a great job. I'm not saying your saying he isn't doing a great job, but I think he's doing a brilliant job at DC. He's not as much an ego-maniac as Joe Q, and whenever I read interviews or listen to audio from panels, he just comes off as a nice guy. No pot shots at Marvel (have you noticed how Marvel do that constantly, but cry foul when DC did it to them?) and just focusing on doing a good job.
And yeah, Thursday is when comics are delivered in the UK, so I'll be picking mine up some time today?
Meet back here on Saturday?
Ha!

I hadn't read #0 when I responded to Dave's post so;
I thought the issue was excellent... I like Johns too, but I really am looking forward to reading Trinity, which is supposed to be independent of the FC.... But from the look of things, I think that the books are taking a bigger direction than Countdown ever did.. I am happy about that. I didn't much care for Countdown.

I don't get it? You got goosebumps from a logo and a few convenient colors. Spoilers below beware > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Didn't _____ tell _____ that he would ______ _____? So Final Crisis would be the _____ ___ right? I never liked ____ near as much as ____ so the idea of ____ ________ won't be the highlight of this story for me but I guess it needs to finally be done and over with once and for all. With that said (or not said) I say bring on Final Crisis! ;D

The nose dive that was Infinite Crisis and its fall out effectively ended any excitement I had for the DCU, only to be carried though by a few great books like All-Star Superman, so hopefully Final Crisis can rekindle some of that. Early signs from DC Universe #0 are looking good.

We talking about the same Dan DiDio here? The guy loves to take potshots at Marvel. Not as many as Grant Morrison or Joe Q take potshots at the other guys, but I don't mind, it's all in good fun. My views on Dan DiDio are mixed. In terms of sales, he hasn't been a huge help to the company. In terms of good books... for every Johns on Green Lantern, we get a Meltzer on JLA, for every "52" we get a "Countdown", for every Infinite Crisis we get an "Amazons Attack".

Ok, "not as many pot shots at Marvel" because I swear, every panel report I see from Marvel has them digging at DC. I just don't think it's that professional. The companies are like frat-houses. And I don't think JLA was that bad. For every Johns on Green Lantern, I'm going to say every Jones on Nightwing

You may not have thought his JLA was that bad. Me, I like it when my super heroes don't spend all their time either sitting around a table looking at photographs or else talking about how great things were in "the old days". And for the pot shots... Morrison's taken quite a few at Secret Invasion lately. (He did do a complete 180 on Civil War, from criticising it as it was coming out to talking about how great it was a year or so after it ended!) Haven't read Nightwing, but I'll throw in another one- for every "Justice Society of America" relaunch we get a "Flash" abomination.

If they can keep everything on schedule, it will be nice that everything will come to an end at the same time.

Mmm. But let's not forget the "Sightings" books tying into it, which appear to be Final Crisis related, and, in some cases, tie-ins in all but name. Confirmed so far:
Batman #682-683- (Which Morrison himself said had a 'big tie in to Final Crisis')
Plus:
Birds of Prey #118- Loose tie-in with the "Dark Side Club" aspect Infinity Inc #11- Loose tie-in with the "Dark Side Club" aspect Teen Titans ?-?- Running a tie-in story called "The Dark Side Club"
And that's just what we know. Call me a sceptic, but there it is...

I can't believe I'm going to do this.
But with a lot of this stuff I'm... Going to wait for the trade.

You know, if you want to read it, read it, but it's not necessary. But other thing that was missing is the Wonder Woman arc, that God know when starts. OwO

Gail Simone is keeping that book on track, so it'll be regular, though I don't know the issue it starts. And I love the idea of the Dark Side Club.... It's a club of evil. Perversions and weirdness, I'm thinking, much like the club that appeared in New Outsiders? The one that was bought out by Ollie Queen? Can't remember the name... Dave, Brian, Mark, help a guy out?

If anyone has read the Seven Soldiers of Victory: Mister Miracle mini, they'll know that the Dark Side Club is a great idea. They had God's fighting to the death in there. Like you said, perversion and weirdness. Too long; didn't read: GO AND BUY SEVEN SOLDIERS OF VICTORY, AT LEAST THE MISTER MIRACLE MINI. OwO

I'm in shock of how awesome this week's comics were. Final Crisis 1 and Batman 677 were truly outstanding. And I haven't read All Star Superman 11 yet.
Morrison is my God.
