Good summing up of your thoughts, and mine, there Scott... I know what you mean... Well I did. Until I had to start writing again because my first six issues are being used elsewhere.

Because it was one of those 'great' GL stories, and it's his son I think, not the actual character... I'm getting IC, GL, GLC 2moz.
Did GL come out?

And they were excellent. I enjoyed the insight into Hal's youth. And finally! His mom has a name! Jessica Elizabeth Jordan.... nope they never (in the history of the character) gave his mom a name... And look they kept the tradition going:
* Jessica Jordan * Jim Jordan * Jack Jordan
Levaing Marty & Hal the odd men out...
Great story though & I like John's take on Hector Hammond... German speaking Gremlins from outerspace... Fun concept!
Recharge: Another excellent issue! This is going to be THE GL book! There is just a limitless number of stories that can be told!

yes it was. I do gotta say though with the "revelations" of the last issue i understood a lot more and went back and reread 1-6 and it was a lot better. a lot. tenfold. and as noted before GLC (if not for some really weird faces made by guy) was awesome! kilowog was a lot more peaceful in JLI. those were the days. I still am awaiting the return of Gnort. that dog was too cool. and i really dont see why not, if they are gonna bring back characters it should be him.
side note did anyone notice that the gls that were strung up at the end of the big manhunter fight were the same that hal beat the crap outta in twilight? issue three i think. check it out.

I thought this month's batch of GL issues were far and above the best of the titles' yet! I think the guest artist on GL made a big difference for me--- I like Van Sciver on Rebirth, but for some reason, he's not working for me on the monthly. Bianchi did an awesome job filling in. Loved the Gremlins, but I wish we could have gotten a translation from the German (and I'm sure everyone caught the references to Thanagar in their speech...?) Recharge was kind of a transitional issue, but it was interesting. I like the direction this is taking, but I hope Guy and Kyle don't become the buddy cops of Sector 2814!

I think that Guy will become like a troubleshooter for the Guardians, going from sector to sector, just checking up on things.
I enjoyed the fill in, because it was much better than Sciver's... The colour blurred the art as some panels, which wasn't that good, as it looked like it was washed over with watercolour, but still... Very beautiful stuff, and good to see Bianchi(sp?) on a mainstream book.

the ion rumor right. I also perferred bianchi to Schiver (though his work was fitting for rebirth) but i really wished we had carlos pacheco for more than 3 issues since they said it would be him on the pencils. oh well.

The fill-in artist was good. Since Schiver has been late a lot recently do you all still think He's going to be doing the grren lantern 9 like he is scheduled to. If its going to be late again,i hope he doesn't.

another title i will have to buy... damn them!

Yep! The Ion title was more than just rumor! Although, I have to say, I'd prefer it if Kyle remained a GL. I feel like he's being stripped of his identity & his title for no good reason. There are (soon to be) at least 7,200 Green Lanterns... I'd pay good money for 3 books a month bearing that title. I'm interested to see how he gets the power back since he used it to recreate the Guardians & re-ignite the MPB on OA.
Anyway, GL#7 was awesome! The beginning of the battle royale between Hal & Mongul! The freaky plant thingy from JLU was cool! GL & GA teamed up together once again & Hal kicking butt while proclaiming: "Maybe you haven't heard the news Mongul...my ring works on YELLOW!"
Violent little page... but I loved every second of it!
I much prefer Pacheco's art over the others that have come before. I like Van SCiver, but his art is too busy at times... distracting from the actual story telling. Not to mention he hides things in his art, so half the time I'm focusing on the background to see if I see naughty pictures. Don't get me wrong, it's great art! Far better than I could ever dream of doing, but I prefer a more straight forward artist on this title like Pacheco.

EXACTLY, i love pachecos work compared to van schivers and the last one, its not so "busy"
Ion i am interested in too. I know the glc will still be around, because the gl that same week shows hal with a bunch of others, but do you think they would have the gall to turn kyle into a villain? also, people on the dcb are going crazy over the costume, am i the only one that thinks its a pretty okay costume???

No, I think it's great compared to the last Ion costume... It retains the black look that Kyle always went for. He won't be a villain... it's just a ploy to attract readers & stir up controversy. They want everyone to read it to see if they've ruined another favorite GL.

Issue 7 is out! I have to say it seemed rushed. Not only that, but towards the end the art got really choppy... especially the final scene between Mongul & his sister.

it seemed fast and the ending was OOOOBBBVIOUS but it still was cool to see the black mercy, no? i hadnt noticed choppy art though, maybe its because I just Like carlos pacheco so much.

GLC was storming, and very clever in its own way, but GL... Hmm. I liked it, it was a nice yarn, a strong piece of work by Johns, but by no means my months favourite. Parallax confused me, because he looked like Hal, didnt he? But Hal isn't... Wasn't... *shudders*

Strip starkers to defeat Hal?

I liked it & don't get me wrong, I love Pacheco's work... but the last few pages went awry somehow. Not that I could do anything remotely close, so I hate being critical...
The Black Mercy was very cool!

Mongulina sucks, I'm not too fond of Mongul either. I really think that Hal should have made short work of Mongul. Plus is it me or does there seem to be more inconsistencies with the GL's powers?

Issue 9 is out. I really liked the issue, and although I am a huge Batman fan, it wasn't because he punched Hal in the face (although that was cool ;D). One scene I liked was when Hal gave Bruce the ring to wear, and advises him to live more with his parents death. The big reason I enjoyed it was the ending. The idea of Hal and Bruce having somewhat of a friendship is a great idea, and those last two lines really stood out.
Batman: "Thanks anyway. And just for the record... I'm glad you're back... Hal. [He had referred to him as Jordan earlier]."
Hal: "Me too, Bruce."

I agree, Joker! Remember the days when superheroes were buddies and trusted each other? This was a step back in that direction. I thought Johns hit all the right notes in this issue, especially not having Batman's sucker punch (like he gave Hawkman back in JLA 116) turn into a brawl. And even the Dark Knight came off pretty cool in the end. But, for the record, I like Lantern Lad's version of the Tattooed Man better (look for the issue in April)!

I really enjoy this series, the stories are great and it really focuses on characters. The one thing I have complaints about is that Green Lantern's powers are very inconsistent. How is it that Tatoo Man cut through his force field, but Sinestro can't get through it?

Post by brigante133 on Mar 3, 2006 20:02:27 GMT -5
its not that one of them was more powerful, it was that hal didnt want it enough when tatoo man cut through it. you have got to assume that hal would have much more will power in beating sinestro than tatoo man.
