Has anyone seen my jaw? It fell off after Joker shot that pregnant girl, and I totally lost track of it after he killed Zee. She's not dead, I know it. I mean she's got real magic on her side and all, plus I just plain liked her. I'm sure she's only mostly dead...yeah, that's it. Fezzik, toss her over your shoulder, we're trotting down to Miracle Max's for one of those lil' chocolate pills... I'm gonna cry if she doesn't come back...

You'll have to ask David...I think it's coming out this week... (later) Sorry, I've just received word from the editor's office that WWQ#3 is being pushed back due to some "Crisis" or something. But don't worry, it'll be worth the wait. Thus ends my shameless plug. ;D

Damn fine issue, porn and all. This was surprising all-around, from the possibility that Chase has been gunning for the wrong mob all this time, to our two heroes having a roll in the hay , and ending with Vigilante crossing the line...but considering everything, can you blame him?

Good story, with only one complaint: you gave away Dennis's double life right on the cover! Other than that, top-notch as always.

I don't care if Batman sees me, I'm crying right now. Seriously, Brian, both the story and your reason behind it have moved me to tears. This is the sort of story you could show to anyone, fanboy or regular schmoe, and they would be hard-pressed to not be affected by it. I knew what was coming in some respects, but it was how it came out that got to me. This was the best New Outsiders story yet, and I agree with Circle, it's one of the best on DC2 period. You now have A LOT to live up to after this, because we're all gonna want you to keep giving us such high-quality fics.

Y'know, Joker does sound like the kind of guy that would carry a gun made out of soap that shoots real bullets...I'll allow it! ;D Trivia time!: the inventor of the derringer was actually named Deringer, with one 'r'. However, so many knock-offs were made, all spelled with a double 'r', that the latter became the accepted spelling. This is the sort of pointless stuff you lean writing Western stories.

Good issue, though I'm still uncomfortable with how Huntress acts during the fights -- the way she gets off on it just creeps me out a bit. Yes, I'm a prude, go away.
Also, for the record, a small one-shot pistol is called a Derringer. Dillinger was the gangster from the 1940s, and I don't think any weaponry was ever named after him.

I figure we'll get Oracle someday, but with DC2 only being 4 months old, getting Babs in that wheelchair so soon feels like a mistake. However, if that is the outcome next month, then I won't object -- it's your story, I'm just along for the ride.
That being said, I enjoyed this installment more than last month's. Reckon I just had an off-week last time. Keep up the good work!

Well, THAT was unexpected! The whole dang team jumping into the Boom Tube? They're in for a surprise, eh? ;D The scenes with the Gambler seem tacked on -- I know we're leading to bigger things post-Crisis (Good Lord, DC2 now has a pre and post-Crisis continuity! ) but it might have been worked in better. The Starfish Casino? Named for Star City, or a wink and nudge to Starro the Conquerer, the JLA's first villain? Either way, not bad. BTW all you folks who responded in the lettercol but did not vote on the issue...shame on you! I was the first to vote but the fourth to post here, so you must have read it, or are you some sort of weirdo that just likes to write to random lettercols? C'mon, people, you just push a lil' button! (that was for you, Brian )

Yes, 1701. Brian described to me at one point that this Royal Flush Gang would have a Hellfire Club influence so I used that directly in the Queen's look. Plus I was trying to make her saucy and edgy at the same time as she is definately a woman to be reckoned with! Sorry you didn't like the blurb on the cover, Susan. There was quite a bit of discussion about it between Brian and myself and I was fully encouraging as I love word balloons on covers. Well, rather I loved how effective older covers were in giving out little teases or summaries or attention grabbers. The cover was the focal selling point, or grab, for a story and as beautiful as some covers can be these days I think they aren't always as effective as they can be as far as trying to connect the potential reader directly with the story inside. I know some consider this "retro" or "corny" these days but I'm a firm believer in old school. Ha. So, it wasn't just some off thought but rather one we hoped would give the reader an "in" on this version of RFG. *makes note to never put word balloons on Susan's covers* ;D Hmm, suddenly I'm E.F. Hutton (totally loses half the readers with that old reference). No, I like word balloons on covers, though they barely use them anymore. This one just seemed out of place -- "Get bent"? Well, Hi to you too! It took me off-guard, but not in the way you may have meant. It just struck me as unnecessary. No need to apologize, Starlord. It wasn't a slam-bang-holy-crap story for me, but it was good. Keep writing, I'll keep reading, I promise.

Good, but I had a hard time getting into this issue -- it just wasn't grabbing me. The NO's came off well, but the villains (yes, even Joker) seemed flat. And what was with the word balloon on the cover? Didn't seem necessary. Maybe I'm just having an off-day, I'll come back next issue and see how it all turns out.

Good as always, but I have to say the way Huntress...reacts...to battle situations made me uncomfortable. Deep down, I'm a bit of a prude, I guess. But hey, it's Mature Readers, says so on the door, you gotta expect things like that.

Oooh, that's bad! We've got white lightning in the US too, Evilal, but the term is used for moonshine -- it's still booze, but homemade.

Good issue, great cover...but who drew it? There's no credits! Let me guess: you really got Frank Miller to do it, but he wanted to be anonymous, right?

Now I see why this was password-protected: Black Canary's running around nekkid! Very good, very fast-paced. It's not TV, it's not HBO, it's DC2. ;D

"It was a gorgeous summer day at the World's Fair when the giant Nazi robots attacked." That line earned you a "best issue of the week" rating! ;D I've been waiting MONTHS for #1 and it was worth the wait -- it really feels like the 1940s when you read this. My only problem (and it's all mine, not a complaint) is remembering the secret IDs of all these guys -- Golden Age is not my area of expertise -- I think I'm gonna have to make myself a crib sheet! PLEASE don't make me wait another 4 months for #2! I'm beggin' ya!

Yeah, you're right about Casablanca -- it's all the talk about the war coming and Nazis hanging out, plus Carter and Shiera have this "Rick and Ilsa" vibe going, forbidden love and all that.

I know Susan has some big plans for Nighthawk and Cinnamon in WWQ.Well, not BIG plans, but they'll be there -- they just have to wait in line behind Jonah, is all. Until I get to them, though, I won't fret none about you spinnin' a yarn or two around them. C'mon, David, upstage the heck out of me!;D By the way, has anybody seen my jaw? It hit the floor as I was reading this and I haven't found it since...

Pitch-perfect beautiful. That's what this issue was. Virtually every scene was a delight unto itself, from Bruce "picking out" his tux to the little in-jokes scattered throughout. How can you keep hitting this stuff out of the park like that? BTW congrats on reaching the fabled milestone of "Detective Comics #27". As with the other one that shares the name, this book was priceless.

Congratulations, you pulled the wool over my eyes real good in this storyarc. First you made me think Jack was a bad guy (which surprised me, but it was an intersting twist) then you made me think Alfred was dead (thank the Lord he's not!). Lies, all lies! And I bought it! Good job, my man! Very twisty-turny, these last two issues were. Lots going on, and it was all done so well...and yes, deathbed confessions are very cliche, but writers wouldn't keep using them if they didn't work, now would they? ;D

Good Lord, I feel like Brad Pitt at the end of "Seven". The things you did here...the end of the last issue was harrowing enough, but this...do you like digging yourself into a hole, Brian? I can't comment any more than this, my mind's melting.

I agree with Don about the editing mistakes, it seems like there were an awful lot this issue. The story was still good, however, I just had to keep making little corrections in my head. Jack does seem like a stereotypical thug in this issue, which makes me wonder how he got by unnoticed all these years. The Gordon stuff is true-to-life, but still a bummer to read. And I really wonder how you're gonna fix up Bats next issue...please don't say it was a Batman clone.

I had a feeling that Jack Drake wasn't going to be as nice as his DCU counterpart, but putting him right in the False Face Gang?!? Crap in a hat! I really hope there's a good excuse behind this! Don't take that as a negative comment, it's just the shock talking. Loved the Two-Face stuff, as well as Black Mask's "I know you can't see it, but I'm rolling my eyes" line.

A surprise from the start -- I thought I missed an issue! -- and a good yarn all the way through. Don't worry, I got the Google thing more or less, and the emphasis on the cane was a good point...though perhaps you should have described it from the first, as I wasn't picturing something so ornate. You're just as tough as Bats, Brian!
