That was grand. Tragic, but grand. I honestly felt for Harvey when he called Bruce -- the fact that he actually reached out to his friend and tried one last time to be himself before giving in to the madness...that was very touching.
Congratulations, you've made me jealous of your writing skills!

I'm with Grant. "Holy crap" indeed! I reread the final courtroom moment because I couldn't believe Maroni MISSED! "What the Hell is Brian doing?!?" I thought. "You can't screw with this!" Oh me of little faith...I certainly didn't see the end coming. Five stars, pally.

Surprises left and right in this issue, from Gordon with a gun (not to be confused with the Aerosmith classic "Janie's got a Gun") to Black Mask's new look (a feeding tube? Dude, life's gonna suck for this guy) I never knew what was going to happen next. Some scenes didn't play well with me (the sudden gift-wrapping of the assassin comes to mind), but the rest of the story made up for it. And congrats, Grant, on your new position here at DC2!

All I gotta say is, Dick better get into that hospital room real quick, or else Babs is in for a serious hurtin'. I've notcied that this Black Mask is very flippant, much like he's written recently in DCU. He wasn't originally like that, he was a pretty serious guy. Not a complaint, just observation.

Great stuff! Secrets abound, tensions mount, and Harvey's talking to himself! Where will it all lead?

Sorry for the late letter, this issue kind of slipped past me... Holy crap! What the fudge is going on?!? People being capped left and right, the GCPD dividing from within, the DA's going nuts...I am so glad I don't live in Gotham right now! But from a reader's standpoint, it's great. Keep up the good work!

Darn good stuff. Loved the split cover -- who came up with that idea -- along with the split stories. The Firefly tale played out well, introducing all sorts of new faces to the DC2 (wonder what's in store for this Harvey Dent fella? ;D ), and Charlie's story, while it bounced around, was amusing -- for once, Dick gets to act like the drunk fop! -- and I had forgotten all about Vicki knowing "the secret", though you found a great way to remind me. Fine job, people. Let's do it again next year.

Is there a "best issue ever" button? 'Cause this one was a serious conteneder! Nonstop action, innovative defense tactics...and Bat-Mite, baby! I can't help it, I love that guy! ;D Too many great parts to single out all of them, but the best of the best are Leslie standing up to the Desaadite, Bruce saying "Go get 'em, Bruno" to the dinosaur, and Kanto being afraid of bunnies.

A fine story all-around -- great way to work in the Reaper, and scary too! My only question: who exactly shot the Reaper at the end? Did Gordon's gun accidentally go off when he dropped it? A stray bullet from a crime in the streets below them? Am I just very thick-headed today and can't see the obvious?

Nice work! Loved the way Bats twisted Hatter's machine to work against him. Some of the dialogue was redundant, though -- seemed like some of the characters said the same thing twice in a row.

The Mad Hatter story was good, but I gave this "Best issue of the week" mostly on the back-up. A wonderful surprise to get 2 stories, and the second actually got me a bit choked up at the end (me and Bruce, bawling like babies! ). More double-headers, please!

Wait, did I hear HoM right...you don't have a grasp of Batman's character?!? You're a stinkin' liar, and this story proves it! Loved all the tidbits you worked in (Julie Madison and her death, in particular) and I was also surprised you managed to get it all done so quickly, but not rushed. The new 'Tec writer has a tough act to follow!

Biggest understatement in the story: "Kalibak has daddy issues." ;D Hoy crow! This whole Crisis dilly-o just keeps getting better and better! You gave us a story on 2 fronts (Oa and Earth) and each by themselves delivered. Also, I have to say that it took serious balls to go up to Didio and pitch a story to him, complete with layouts -- yes, the man will regret his shortsightedness someday, and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank -- it just goes to show that there's some folks out there that perhaps know these characters better than the "official" writers...and if David wants to lump me in with you and Dragonbat, I ain't complainin'. Note to Kyle Rayner: stay out of alleyways, they're nothing but trouble. ;D

I'm playing catch-up with the fics (I'm a month behind!) so I read #8 and 9 back-to-back. First off, the Legion Virus story didn't end the way I expected, namely Guy running off with a chip still on his shoulder -- I figured he'd keep the ring, but who knows what will follow with him now! And intesresting that Hel's ring has suddenly lost its yellow weakness... As for the second story...holy crap! Throw us into the deep end of the pool head-first, why don't you! You never let up, pulling us from one bad guy/explosion/unknown environment to the next...and it was great the whole way! On to IXE! ;D

Y'mean that cute lil' 12-year-old ISN'T our Charlie?!? I thought for sure... Good issue. Short but good. Hal gets the best lines as always, and I think the idea of Tattooed Man as angry Goth is better then the others I've seen. Horse poop on Kruger Street.... ;D

Hal puked. In space. That was damn funny! ;D
This thing gets better and better. You write everyone very realistically, and your portrayal of Oa and the rest of the Corps is great. More action would have been nice, but even the buildup in your book is exciting! Can't wait for the Quardian smackdown! ;D

Hal, being a well-known ladies' man, will probably try to juggle both. Good stuff, but I was also hoping to see what happened to Guy...wait, did I just say I WANTED to see Guy? Somebody take my temperature, I must still be sick! And Sinestro blinks! Suddenly it's a Monty Python sketch: "I'm not dead! I feel happy...I think I'll go for a walk..." ;D Good stuff all-around, see ya in 30!

This title took a while to get going, but man o man, once it did... A surprise in every box! Dead (?!?) Sinestro, Guy gets a ring, Hal kicks major buttski...and every line of dialogue was priceless! Can't wait for more!

Hey, I can use my Susiefangirl handle for my Legion codename! I never thought of that before! ;D I have the power to translate Interlac without a code key, and to remember useless obscure facts from all corners of the comic book galaxy. Oh, and I make really good fried chicken.

Huh? Did I say the wrong name? Sorry, new folks to learn, I goofed. Mainly I was surprised at someone recognizing the symbol, the who wasn't of relevance to me. And I read the Legion issue...when are we getting more of those BTW?

Me first, me first! ;D Darn good, and darn surprising: when you had Hal get all smashed up, I honestly thought that Guy would be chosen first this time. PSYCH! Plus Morgan recognizing the GL symbol...oh, what are you planning here? Gotta wait a month to find out!

That first scene was creepy as all get-out. And everything after that was golden. With one drop of blood, you appear to have driven Bruce to the breaking point -- the Wrath is just what pushes him right over the edge of it. Wonderful story! More please!

With the exception of Batman condoning the abuse of Freeman (yes, the guy's a murdering racist scumbag, but letting Catwoman whip him is gratuitous) this story was pitch-perfect from beginning to end. Hope to see more in the future.

Was it just me, or did Johnathon Lyons remind anybody else of that old Tick enemy "The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight"? YEAH, BABY, YEAH! ;D
Having read "City of Crime" (if you didn't already, go do it NOW!), I knew this was going to be good, but man, this is even better than I thought! This arc is gonna be KILLER, pun definitely intended!

Five-star work, Charlie. You hit every note pitch-perfect, and even threw in a curve ball with Vicki and her niece's play -- what seemed like an innocuous throwaway line from a previous issue turned out to be a major plot point!
Tupper, that was a beautiful cover. Put me down for one of those action figures! ;D
